Every Thursday, YMCA Exeter youth worker Becky and a small team head to Broadclyst youth club to lead sessions for up to 15 young people.
From baking to painting, craft sessions, games, movie nights and Christmas parties, the range of activities is fun and varied. They recently had a session on mental health and wellbeing led by YMCA Exeter’s Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners.
At YMCA Exeter we see youth clubs as an essential way to provide a safe space for young people to grow in confidence, explore who they are in a fun and creative way and have time to be with their friends and develop a community.
And the parents think it’s great to!
“My son enjoys his time at youth club, he is given his freedom but in a safe environment to learn how to be social with children his age and older.”
“I think it is fantastic. E absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every week. The activities are varied and well thought through, and she thinks Becky is a great role model – firm with the naughty ones and kind to everyone. Thanks for running it!”
“I would like to say ‘Thank you’ for running this. I think it’s a great youth club. The activities you put on are fantastic. It’s much appreciated to have this in our village”
