Conflict management and De-Escalation Training

This training will equip you with essential skills for managing and de-escalating conflict in high-pressure situations.

Training Content:

  1. Identifying Personal Safety risks and what to do about them
  2. Lone Worker Safety Tips
  3. Understanding how our attitude and communication style can affect situations
  4. How an understanding of Verbal and Non-Verbal communication can keep us safer (including warning/danger signs and proxemics)
  5. How to dynamically risk assess situations, including the impact of alcohol, drugs and mental ill-health when managing conflict
  6. How to diffuse and de-escalate conflict
  7. Understanding the impact of communication
  8. Understand the law relating to:
  9. Health and Safety
  10. Human Rights
  11. Self-defence
  12. Using force (as an absolute last resort)
  13. Disengagement and Breakaway technique

Our Conflict Management and De-Escalation Training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to handle conflict situations calmly, professionally, and safely. Whether you’re dealing with difficult customers/ client, managing team disputes, or ensuring safety in stressful environments, this training will equip you with the tools you need to navigate and resolve conflicts with confidence.

Our one-day course, held in the heart of Exeter (EX1 2DB), is led by experienced trainers who will guide you through key techniques and strategies for managing conflict and de-escalating tense situations. You will learn how to recognise early warning signs of conflict, how to assess personal safety risks, and how to respond appropriately in various scenarios.

Key topics covered include understanding the impact of both verbal and non-verbal communication, and how your attitude can influence outcomes in conflict situations. Participants will gain practical skills in risk assessment, including how factors such as alcohol, drugs, and mental health can affect conflict dynamics.

In addition, the training will cover essential de-escalation techniques and provide guidance on disengagement and breakaway methods for personal safety. You will also learn about the legal aspects of conflict management, including health and safety, self-defence, and the use of force as a last resort.
