About: Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a nationally recognised training course designed to help individuals identify the signs of mental health challenges and provide appropriate support to someone experiencing distress. While the course does not train participants to be therapists, it equips them with the skills to listen non-judgementally, offer reassurance, and guide individuals towards suitable professional support.

Over two full days of interactive learning, participants will take part in group discussions, case studies, videos, and practical activities. The course introduces the MHFA action plan and explores a range of common mental health challenges, helping learners build confidence in responding calmly and effectively, even in difficult situations.

The training is delivered by accredited MHFA England instructors and is suitable for those wishing to become a designated MHFAider® in the workplace, support colleagues and clients, or develop their own professional knowledge and confidence around mental health.

Everyone who completes the MHFA course will join the growing MHFAider® community and receive three years of MHFA England certification. Participants will also gain access to a range of ongoing benefits, including learning resources and 24/7 digital support via the MHFAider® Support App, enabling them to carry out the role effectively and with confidence.

Held at a central Exeter location (EX1 2DB), this course provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment. With lunch and refreshments included, it offers a practical and meaningful opportunity to develop essential mental health support skills.
