About: Fundamentals of Line Management Training

The Fundamentals of Line Management Training programme is designed to support individuals who are new to managing others, or who are stepping into leadership roles for the first time. The course focuses on developing self-awareness, practical management skills, and confidence, enabling participants to lead teams in a way that is effective, supportive, and values-driven.

Across the training days, participants explore their leadership strengths, gaining insight into how these influence their approach to managing others. The programme encourages an appreciation of difference, helping managers to understand how team members think, communicate and make decisions.

The training places strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, enabling managers to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate empathy, and build trust within their teams. Practical tools are introduced to support effective prioritisation, workload management, and realistic action planning, ensuring learning can be applied immediately in the workplace.

Participants will also develop key people-management skills, including delegation and feedback. The course explores how to empower team members rather than simply assign tasks, and how to give and receive feedback in a way that supports growth, performance, and wellbeing. Professional boundaries are discussed in depth, helping new managers balance approachability with authority and lead with credibility.

The programme is supported by individual one-to-one coaching sessions with a certified International Coaching Federation (ICF) coach, providing space for personalised development, reflection, and application of learning to real workplace situations. Participants also take part in a facilitated learning huddle with their managers, allowing progress and growth.

Delivered using an MDTI methodology – Mindset, Discovery, Tools, and Implementation Evaluation, this programme ensures learning is practical, reflective and embedded into day-to-day leadership practice.
