About: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

ASIST is a nationally and internationally recognised two-day workshop that provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to someone at risk of suicide. The course emphasises a collaborative, compassionate approach, enabling attendees to conduct suicide interventions with confidence and sensitivity.

Delivered through a combination of direct teaching, discussion, and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to identify those at risk, engage in meaningful conversations, and develop personalised safety plans. The programme also explores connecting individuals to appropriate professional and community support resources and considers life-promotion strategies for prevention.

ASIST provides a safe, supportive learning environment where participants can practice interventions, ask questions, and build confidence in applying the skills in real-world scenarios. The course includes a 20-page workbook, wallet card, stickers, and certificate upon completion.

Held at a central Exeter location (EX1 2DB), this training is subsidised in partnership with the trainer, offering a highly valuable learning experience at a fraction of the market rate.
