Thank you to @cofedevon for producing this short film interviewing former YMCA resident, Magnus!

Magnus found a safe place to call home at YMCA Exeter's Stage 1 housing back in 2023 and was able to receive valuable support and a community to get back on his feet.

From there, he was able to reconnect with his passion for blacksmithing, with the help of Sam, manager of our Community Projects.

Now a Student at @uniofexeter Magnus also volunteers his time teaching current YMCA residents metalwork skills in our forge - a full circle moment.

It was great to welcome former resident and curren

It was great to welcome former resident and current Volunteer, Magnus, for a video interview that will be played at the Thy Kingdom Come event at the Cathedral this Sunday! 🎉

Now a student at the University of Exeter, Magnus lived in our St David's Hill accommodation after being made homeless in 2023. During his time at YMCA Exeter he rekindled his love for blacksmithing and metalwork in our 'Forging Futures' project, and now helps run the project for other residents!

A video interview with Magnus will be played at the Thy Kingdom Come event this Sunday evening at 6pm!

We love seeing residents discover their passions and skills and go on to volunteering, employment or training opportunities.

☕Lorraine - Making paninis and pancakes in the Lighthouse Cafe and mentoring residents for their employment training programmes

👨‍🌾Gardening volunteers - supporting residents at gardening group and keeping our community garden maintained and looking beautiful!

🎨Heather - running craft groups for our residents at St David's Hill on Fridays

🔨Ian - helping with all things Facilities - painting, cleaning, DIY and bringing a smile to our faces!
