Since 2012, our TEN:10 Internship Programme have given young adults the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience of working within the Christian charity sector.
Inspired by Jesus’ vision of abundant life in John 10:10, YMCA Exeter seek to empower and develop young adults to be excellently skilled, Godly and servant hearted leaders. There are three ways to get involved with YMCA Exeter through a TEN:10 Internship.
11 month internship
Year long TEN:10 Interns immerse themselves into the life of YMCA Exeter and are able to gain professional knowledge of working within the charity sector. From providing one to one pastoral care and support to running creative arts and sports initiatives, year long interns arrive in September and finish in July with a wealth of skills and experience to equip them for a lifetime of work.
These are three to six month, full time, internship placements which are tailored to the individual and their learning objectives and goals. The programme is written by our Volunteer Coordinator and is bespoke to each individual, giving young adults the opportunity to gain experience in an array of work areas over a longer period of time. Bespoke internships are ideal for students who area graduating from college or university and are ready to dip their toes into the working world.
There are short term, work experience placements which are available in each of our work areas and are popular with students from Exeter College and the University. From running small events with our PR & marketing team, to assisting in hospitality & front of house duties, as well as HR & finance, work placements are ideal for young adults who need to gain additional experience in a particular field of their interest.
If you are interested in exploring any of the internship opportunities and to talk through the options then please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at email@example.com or by ringing 01392 410530. Please describe your reason for volunteering with YMCA Exeter as well as the goals for your placement.
Intern Home Vlogs (April/May 2020)
Following the outbreak of Covid-19, our 2019/2020 interns (Sarah, Carmen, Markus and Annie) took the decision to return home to Germany so they could spend lockdown with their close families. However, each of them have still been actively involved with the community and prayer life of YMCA Exeter, regularly joining our daily online prayer meetings, continuing virtual sessions with their mentors and even each producing a vlog about their experiences since leaving Exeter. Each of our intern vlogs are available to watch below or via our Youtube channel.
