JoyFest returns to Exeter

JoyFest returns to Exeter

Have you heard of JoyFest? It’s a simple idea: can the church spend a week doing acts of kindness to make the city a happier place?

On Wednesday 3rd June, all of us at YMCA Exeter had the fun of joining in, finding fun, random ways to bless people.

This is what we got up to:

  1. We handed out goody bags filled with treats and refreshments for delivery drivers in Exeter
  2. We dropped off luxury biscuits to local housing providers
  3. Our residents and staff in Paignton packed gift bags and handed them to 100 of their neighbour
  4. We visited our regular supply companies, like Toolstation, to gift them with sweet treats
  5. We supplied heaps of chocolate to staff and students at our local college
  6. We delivered amazing locally sourced cakes to essential services in Exeter, from the police and fire brigade to A&E and CoLab

In total, over 600 people in Exeter were blessed through the morning of fun and we had some really lovely comments.

The police said, “We rarely hear thank you or kind words, this really means a lot.”

The matron at A&E said, “I never get called out to the front of A&E for something positive – thank you so much.”
