Hey, we are Hannah and Noa.
We just moved from Germany to the UK to start our new job as TEN:10 Volunteers at YMCA Exeter. We are looking forward to getting to know the British culture and traditions, plus exploring Exeter and its surroundings.
A funny fact about us, we both live in Berlin and both our parents are pastors, but we had never met before starting the volunteer work!
A bit about Hannah:
“I am glad to work at YMCA Exeter! I like the fact that I will be able to discover the different fields of work here and experience its Christian values in everyday working life.
“I am very much looking forward to working with young people in the gardening project, the lighthouse café and the youth club. I like anything creative from drawing to movie productions.
“My childhood dream was to become an actress and because of that, I started acting school which became a big part of my life. It was a meaningful time expressing our emotions and being part of a group was important to me.
“Later I learned that I like leading groups e.g. directing short movies or helping with the confirmation classes in my church. I like travelling and discovering new countries and cultures a lot! And that’s why I am very excited to spend this next year abroad.”
A bit about Noa:
“I finished school this spring and took my A-level exams in Biology, German, Art, English and Philosophy. Now I am excited to have my first experience in a work environment.
“In my free time, I love to draw, read, cook and bake. I also like to sing and do ballet. I am interested in all the topics surrounding biology and medicine. After this year of volunteering work, I want to study medicine.
“For my time at YMCA Exeter, I want to get involved in the great work that is done here. I hope to help support people who struggle with homelessness and their mental health. And try to give the love and luck I could experience in my life back to my surroundings. “
We are so happy to be at YMCA Exeter and also very grateful for now being a part of this wonderful and lovely team!
