young people homeless jobs

15 October 2018

We’re thrilled to announce that we have received £20,000 from People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The funding boost will enable us to develop our new enterprise programme, enabling previously homeless young people to access the employment market through taking part in mini pop-up enterprises we have planned over the next year.

Funding comes following the first pop-up enterprise we ran in August, where residents planned and run a six-day community café on Paris Street.

Our ‘Connect’ programme, funded by People’s Postcode Lottery, enables young people to learn workplace disciplines, gain experience with local business partners, deliver a pop-up enterprise and evaluate their outcomes for future projects.

Bethan Spencer, Fundraising Manager at YMCA Exeter, said:

“It’s an incredible encouragement that People’s Postcode Lottery are backing our vision to prepare and equip young people for the workplace.

Throughout the duration of the project we hope to release many young people into the world of work and journey alongside them as they embark on their own entrepreneurial endeavours.”
