It’s been a wonderful few weeks welcoming our first residents into the newly completed, Sidwell Studios.

YMCA Exeter resident, 24-year-old Owen, was the first to move in:

“I don’t think it’s properly sunk in yet. There’s no way I could have afforded something like this. Not even house shares are this affordable. It only takes me three minutes to get to the bus stop, so I’m no longer socially isolated.

“And I’ve got peace of mind and a safety net because YMCA Exeter are the owners. I’ve been employed for five years but I have an anxiety disorder and now I know that YMCA Exeter will help me if I need it. Being at YMCA Exeter has turned my life around. ”

26-year-old Gemma, said she was delighted to move in:

“I jumped up and down in the kitchen when I heard I’d got a place. Everyone is so happy for me. I couldn’t have afforded a place in the centre of town with the current market rates, it would have been my whole month’s salary.

“I’m now going to live closer to my mum and my employees have offered me the chance to become a shift leader in a local shop. This new place is a dream come true.”

We’re so thankful to everyone who has made this development possible.
