YMCA Exeter is gearing up to double supporters’ Christmas donations by taking part in the UK’s biggest match funding campaign, The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2019.
Now in its 12th year, The Christmas Challenge launches at midday on 3rd December (Giving Tuesday) and runs for just seven days, until 10th December 2019. Throughout the week, participating charities will see supporters’ donations matched (up to £50,000 per organisation), doubling the impact of their gifts.
YMCA Exeter are continuing our mission to tackle youth homelessness in the city by raising funds to purchase additional long-term accommodation.
As well as providing additional independent living options for existing YMCA residents, the new accommodation will also alleviate pressure on our main St David’s Hill hostel, meaning more young people in crisis can find the housing they need.

“As a local charity and Housing Association, YMCA Exeter is committed to supporting young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Yet our vision is not only to support young people into safe and affordable housing, but it is also to embed them into local communities where they can play an active role.
Christmas conjures up images of spending time with family in a warm and comforting home. In contrast, many young people don’t have either of these so every donation we receive through our Big Give campaign will be used to create homes and communities for them.”
