Stay In or Sleep Out for Sleep Easy!
Thank you so much to everyone who took part in YMCA Exeter’s Sleep Easy event!
Although this event has now passed, we would still be very grateful for any donations towards the fundraiser via our JustGiving campaign page.
ABOUT YMCA Exeter
“As lockdown hit, my partner of two years broke up with me and I suddenly found myself homeless. It was a nightmare, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. The worst part was finding somewhere to go to the loo. I had nowhere to shower so I probably smelt quite a bit. I was able to move into a shared house at YMCA Exeter Supported Accommodation – YMCA support is brilliant, I really needed it’ – YMCA Exeter Resident, Richard
Wanting a place to call home is natural but, since the start of the pandemic, the number of young people affected by homelessness in Exeter and across Mid-Devon has almost doubled.
Sadly, fewer than one in five homeless young people believe the public care about their situation.
YMCA Exeter and Exeter City Council are working closely together to tackle Exeter’s housing crisis, particularly to help the 350 local young people waiting for 1-bed accommodation.
YMCA Exeter was established in 1846, and now, in 2022, we are opening our exciting 26-bed accommodation: Sidwell Studios.
